Types of Power-ups
Subway Surfers divide power-ups into 2 categories: Pick-ups and Boosters. First, understand the difference between Pick-ups and Boosters.
Picks-ups appear while running on rails. You cannot purchase them or activate them independently. If you see a pick-up while running on rails, it depends on you to pick them up or miss them. If you pick, you’re able to use the ability of pick-up; otherwise, you’ve no other way to use them. You can only upgrade them to increase their durability.
On the other hand, Boosters are purchasable. It totally depends on how many times you want to use it, but there are some rules for using it.

Pick-ups
There are 4 types of Pick-ups: Jet pack, 2x Multiplier, Coin Magnet and Super sneakers
Jetpack
After picking it, you are able to fly high in the air. There are no obstacles in the air; collect coins while having this without facing any issues, and upgrade it from the shop up to 6 levels. Each upgrade needs more coins, and each upgrade increases its duration to stay in the sky. Just perfect the timing of collecting coins to get benefit from this power-up.
2x Multiplier
A pick-up to double your score multiplier. It also has 6 levels to upgrade and increase the duration. For example, if your current multiplier is 12x, after picking this, your multiplier increases up to 24x. This is good for doubling your score in a short time.
Coin Magnet
There are 3 lanes in Subway Surfers; sometimes, there are coins on every lane. To collect coins from all lanes, Coin Magnet is the best choice. It automatically collects coins near you. You can also upgrade this from the shop to increase its duration. It is best to collect more coins.
Super Sneakers
As I said, to make the game challenging, developers introduce obstacles. There are many types of obstacles. If there are big or small obstacles, jump or scroll to dodge them, but too many big obstacles make it difficult to jump over them. In this situation Super sneakers are helpful to jump over them.
Boosters
There are three types of Boosters: Head Start, Hoverboard and Score boosters.
Head Start
You can purchase it from a shop and cannot upgrade. Use Head Start to reach top speed. It charges 2k coins to purchase. The usage rule of this booster is that you can use it when you start your game and after reviving your characters. The second rule is you cannot use more than 3 Head Start in a single attempt, not a single run.
Score Booster
Purchase it from the shop after paying 3k coins. The usage rule of this booster is you cannot use up to 3 boosters in a single run. It depends on you when you use it when you start running or after reviving your character. It increases your multiplier by 5, 6 and 7. For example, if your current game multiplier is 3, after the first use, your multiplier is 8; after the second use, your multiplier is 14; and after 3rd use, your multiplier is 21. It increases your multiplier, not double as 2x multiplier.
Hoverboard
Some people think it is not a booster, but this is false. Official Subway Surfers developers say this is a booster also. It plays an important role than others. It saves you from crashing for up to 30 seconds; hoverboards are not cool, but they are helpful. Pay 300 coins for extra safety. You can upgrade or pick them up; just double them to activate them any time you want.
How to Score High with Power-ups?

- You can score high by using Score Booster, 2x multiplier and Hoverboard. 2x multiplier doubles your score, and score boosters increase your score multiplier while the Hoverboard saves you from crashing.
